This is one of the years biggest travel weeks all year long.  Here are some travel tips to help  you make it to your destination and back safely. Click the more info button to see them.

  • If law allows, travel with your handgun. Carry bullets that will be less likely to over penetrate and that will encourage fast stoppage. Hollow-point ammunition is the best selection for personal defense.
  • If you have holster choices available, choose one that will allow you to access your firearm easily from a seated position while driving your car. Cross-draw, appendix or shoulder holsters typically offer the best access while sitting.Have a pocket knife on you that is easily accessible.
  • Carry a flashlight.  Pocket clip flashlights are fairly reasonable in price and can prove to be invaluable if you meet an aggressor at night.
  • Don't flash large amounts of money.
  • If you have to stop for gas, food or restroom breaks, try to use a busy location rather than an abandon one.  Criminals are less likely to strike in an area where there are lots of witnesses.
  • Don't leave expensive items or cash in plain view of your car or person.
  • If you are staying at a hotel, park in a well lighted area.  Upon registration, try to see where security cameras are pointing and park in those areas. As close to the cameras as possible is best.
  • Be cautious of people asking for money, a light, help with directions or anything else that may be a distraction to commit a crime against you.  you should instantly set yourself to condition "orange" and scan the area if approached by such a person. Remember, it's okay to say no or to demand your personal space not be invaded.
  • When filling your gas tank don't stare at the price and gallons.  Stand with your back against the car and scan the area around you. Keep your keys on you and not in the ignition.
  • Travel safe and carry a big gun.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
