NRA Personal Protection In The Home

The NRA has done extensive research, and consulted with the best in the industry to determine the best way for someone to defend themselves and their loved ones at home. This course was designed to do just that.

Course Goal: To develop the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a firearm for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law abiding citizen's right to self defense.

Course Length: 16 Hourse

Prerequisite:  NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course participants must be experienced shooters (Shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearms, and cleaning the firearm) tom maximize what can be learned from this course. Proof of shooting experience can e one of the following: NRA basic pistol course certificate, NRA First Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD214, with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.

Lesson III: Firearms and the law
Possession, Ownership and the use of Deadly Force 
Lesson IV: Strategies for Home Safety and Responding to a Violent Confrontation
Lesson V: Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense
Lesson VI: Sport Shooting Activities and Training Opportunities
Lesson VII: Course Review and Examination

100 Rounds of Ammunition
Holster (will not draw from holster in class. This is for convenience.
