Dan has lived in Tehama County for the last 36 years and has worked in the security and investigations field for over 22 years.  He has provided "close protection" for civilians, foreign dignitary staff as well as celebrities.  After 9-11 Dan's company was contacted and hired to provide specialized security for the USN, MSC where he operated as a K-9 officer and Force Protection Team Leader. His primary mission was ensuring the detention of persons of interest in terror activities and providing ship security for not only US Navy ships but ships from all over the world. 9 of the 22 years in the field was spent working for an attorney as an investigator where he studied the use of deadly force for self preservation.  He was able to use the knowledge he gained to investigate multiple homicides and shootings throughout Shasta, Trinity, Sacramento and Humboldt Counties. He has also worked part-time as a Fugitive Recovery Agent for local bail bondsmen since he was 18.

Having carried a firearm for work as well as to fulfill the requirements to obtain a CCW permit, Dan has taken several firearms courses from a variety of instructors whose knowledge he brings to his classes.  Furthermore, he has been exhaustively trained by the National Rifle Association, (NRA) as an instructor in Basic Pistol, Personal Protection In The Home, and Personal Protection Outside The Home.  He is an EMR instructor and combines lifesaving medical training in his courses.
